The Copper Queen Community Hospital (CQCH) and the Radiology Team would like to say “Thank You” to the Freeport-McMoRan Foundation!
Freeport-McMoRan's guiding philosophy for its community development activities is “Transforming Tomorrow Together” allowing collaborative work with communities to make transformative change and increase overall individual/community opportunity, wellbeing, and capacity.
As a part of this initiative, CQCH was granted funds to purchase a new, state-of-the-art 3D Mammography machine for the Bisbee Hospital, thus allowing CQCH to move the existing mammography machine to its Douglas Hospital. Roman Barroso, Manager of Imaging Services in Radiology, stated that in October (which is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month) over 200 patients were seen in Bisbee for Mammograms and an additional 155 patients in November!
Having a full-time mammography machine in Douglas allows the Hospital to offer more appointments; patients no longer need to travel as far to receive this vital preventative care.
The new 3D mammography machine provides better quality images and as a result, improved early detection. Thanks to Freeport-McMoRan, our communities continue to have access to the best local healthcare, which in turn creates a stronger and more resilient local workforce and economy.
Freeport-McMoRan is passionate about building long-term resiliency and supporting the community’s ability to successfully navigate commodity market downturns, end of mine life and other economic/social disruptors. We appreciate the incredible generous support they have offered to CQCH to ensure that we grow stronger together every day.
