Officials from Copper Queen Community Hospital welcomed Dr. Roland Snure, General Surgeon, as part of the staff at Copper Queen Medical Associates, during a celebration held at the Gadsden Hotel on April 14.
Dr. Snure is a Douglas native, whose family has lived in Cochise County for over 100 years. He grew up 40 miles northeast of Douglas on Snure Ranch.
A graduate of the University of Arizona Medical School, Dr. Snure specializes in general surgery.
He then went on the become Chief of Surgery at Gila Regional Medical Center. Most recently Dr. Snure was General Surgeon at Tairawhiti District Health in Ginsborne, New Zealand.
With close ties to the area and the ranching community, the surgeon says that family and friends are what brought him back home.
“That’s the main thing really,” said Dr. Snure. “Having lived in New Zealand for three years I really did miss the desert and Arizona. I hope that everyone will become aware that I’m back and available for whatever general surgical needs they have.”
Dr. Snure hopes to contribute to the expansion of CQCH services, in both Bisbee in Douglas, something he says will broaden around the next six months.
Jim Dickson, CEO, CQCH, commented saying, “In our effort to improve healthcare in Douglas we needed to have a good surgeon. Dr. Romo is soon retiring, and Dr. Snure has an excellent reputation for general surgery. We think he is what Douglas needs.”
Dr. Snure is available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Contact Copper Queen Community Hospital at (520) 432-6500 or CQMA Douglas Medical Complex at (520) 364-7659 to schedule an appointment.[ read more...]
