BISBEE – The Copper Queen Community Hospital (CQCH) Development Fund awarded five local students with $2,500 scholarships.
The awards presentation took place on Wednesday, May 15 at the CQCH main office in Bisbee.
The following students were the scholarship recipients:
Anthony Damiano, graduated Douglas High school in 2017 and also received this scholarship last year. He is currently attending Pima Medical Institute and will graduate in December of 2020. He plans to cross train after graduation from the Radiology Tech program and become a CT Tech as well.
Ariela Noriega, graduated from Douglas High School in 2016. She is currently a full-time student at New Mexico State University and is enrolled in their medical assistant, ECG Technician and Medical Transcriptionist Programs. She would like to one day become a medical provider.
Conner Fletcher, graduated Buena High School in 2018 and was one of the Top 20 students. He will be attending the University of Arizona in the fall into their Pre-Physiology program in the College of Medicine. Conner thinks that our country needs highly educated and motivated young people to lead in the future.
Paige Mariscal, will graduate Douglas High School May 24. Paige is the Valedictorian for Douglas high School. After graduation she plans to become a Pharmacist and will be attending University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
Ximena Iniguez, will graduate Douglas High School May 24. Ximena is planning to become a Physician Assistant and will be attending Arizona State University’s downtown Phoenix Campus. Her future vision is to help those in need who can’t afford health care, especially in small towns like Douglas.
“As a local healthcare provider, we want to support the efforts of those in our community who want to pursue careers in healthcare, which often are the most difficult positions to fill and offer graduates a greater opportunity for job placement,” said CQCH Chief Executive Officer Robert Seamon.[ read more...]
