Bisbee — Bisbee’s Copper Queen Community Hospital opened its new emergency department and renovation project on Friday.
Former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, retired astronaut Capt. Mark Kelly, attended a gathering to unveil the project.
Giffords was recognized for her efforts to secure federal investments for the expansion project while she was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
The Emergency Department is now double in size and includes nine exam rooms, two critical care rooms, four fast-track rooms, telemedicine capability in all treatment rooms, new CT scanning equipment, and a dedicated emergency room entrance, lobby and waiting area
Other renovated areas include a new inpatient pharmacy, and a new outpatient testing and waiting area.
