BISBEE — Five local area students have received $2,500 scholarships from The Copper Queen Community Hospital Development Fund.
•Dayana Gomez will graduate from Douglas High School in 2017 and will attend the University of Arizona where she plans to majoring in Biology. Dayana is also currently a student at Cochise College enrolled in their Certified Nursing Assistant program.
•Ashley Gomez will graduate from Douglas High School in May of 2016. After graduation she will be attend the University of Arizona’s Biomedical Sciences Program.
•Lesley Mueller, graduated Bisbee High School in 2014 and is currently a student at Oregon State University, where she is majoring in Biology with a minor in public health and Pre-med option. She plans to continue on to medical school to become a doctor.
•Valerie Ruiz is a 2015 Graduate of Valley Union High School. She is currently attending Cochise College’s Radiology Technician Program.
•Taylor Valenzuela graduated Bisbee High School in 2010. She is planning on attending the University of Arizona and pursue to Business Degree with an emphasis on healthcare.
“As a local healthcare provider we want to support the efforts of those in our community who want to pursue careers in healthcare,” said hospital CEO Jim Dickson. “These jobs are often are the most difficult positions to fill and offer graduates a greater opportunity for job placement.”[ read more...]
