BISBEE — Eight nurses from Copper Queen Community Hospital recently completed coursework and advanced from a Registered Nurse I status to Registered Nurse II.
The nurses include: Marianna Bryant, Sierra Vista; Yolanda Didier, Sierra Vista; Amber Hooper, Bisbee; Barbara Martinez, Douglas; Lucianna Nelson, Bisbee; Erika Ochoa, Douglas; Rochelle Shank, Sierra Vista and Glenda Trevino, Sierra Vista.
“These nurses have each demonstrated a high level of achievement to reach this level. We support and encourage our nurses to further their education” said Chief Nursing Officer Linda Morin.
Some of the additional qualifications of the new designation include:
•Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
•Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
•Critical care and/or Emergency care experience
•Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for all age groups of patients
•Extensive knowledge and practice of professional nursing, scientific research, administering medication, medical treatments and medical procedures, counseling and teaching techniques and use of medical equipment.
“We support the advancement and education of our nurses and to be able to provide comprehensive care to our community,” said hospital CEO Jim Dickson.
